Slow summer? Print pieces that bring foot traffic to a Spokane storefront.

A slow stretch is usually a distribution problem, not a demand problem: the people who'd happily walk in are nearby and simply haven't been given a reason to today. Cheap, local print is the most direct way to reach them, because it lands in the neighborhood where your customers actually live — not in a feed they share with the whole country.

Here's how to turn a quiet week around without spending much.

Reach the blocks around you, not the whole city

The customer most likely to walk through your door is the one who lives or works closest to it. That's what makes door hangers and neighborhood-mailed postcards so effective for a storefront: you don't need a mailing list, you just pick the routes around your store and hit every door on them. A tight radius with a good piece beats a citywide blast every time — you're paying to reach the people who can realistically show up, and no one else.

Give a specific reason to come in now

"We're here and we're great" doesn't move anyone. A concrete, time-limited offer does — something worth acting on this week, with an easy next step (walk in, bring this card). The deadline is the part that works; without one, a good intention becomes "someday," and someday never fills a slow Tuesday.

Borrow the foot traffic next door

The businesses around you already have your customers walking past them. A small stack of flyers or cards at a complementary neighbor — the coffee shop, the gym, the salon — puts you in front of the exact people you want, at a moment they're already out and about. Offer to return the favor and it costs you nothing but the printing.

Turn one visit into a habit

The cheapest customer to win is the one who already came in. A simple card handed out at checkout — a punch card, a reason to return, a small thank-you — quietly turns a first visit into a second. It's the highest-return piece on this list and the one most shops forget to print.

Track what actually worked

Put a "bring this card" or a small code on each piece so you can tell which one pulled people in. Then print more of what worked and drop what didn't. A slow season is a great time to learn which of these earns its keep, cheaply.

Tell us your block and your offer, and we'll help you pick the two or three pieces worth printing — and, if you want, mail them straight to the routes around your door.
